Landscape photography should embody the grandeur of the natural landscape and, above all, transmit the same emotions you experienced when you were there
Mastering the techniques and learning the secrets to take really breathtaking landscape pictures is a matter of know-how, study and a lot of practice in the field.
Just like other types of photography, landscape photography is not just about the quality of the light.
At the edges of day, when the sun is low in the sky, you’ll find a more gentle light that will help make your photos pop. But it’s not enough!
If you find you can relate to at least one of the questions listed above, please continue reading…
If you can relate to more than one… hang on tight…
Landscape photography is very popular these days, but it’s often considered something easy and straightforward, not worth an investment of time to study
But, it’s really the opposite!
Thanks to our 7+ years experience teaching photography in Italy, we put together a game-changing workshop that really will take your skills to the next level
You will have access to the knowledge gained from years of experience in-the-field focused in a few days, allowing you all the tools you need to become a better landscape photographer
To better understand what I mean when I think about landscape photography, take a look at some of the shots I’ve recently taken around beautiful California
Who's the trainer?
Simone Conti
I’m an Italian photographer and teacher, and the co-founder of “FotografiaProfessionale”, Italy’s leading photography website dedicated to training and workshops for professionals and enthusiasts sharing a passion for photography.
From early childhood, I’ve been totally absorbed by two passions: photography and technology. A first computer at age six, followed soon by my first camera led me down a path that would bring together both disciplines for my professional career. I studied engineering at the University of Bologna and photography at the International Center of Photography (ICP) in New York, among others.
I enjoy shooting both film and digital and am a recognized expert on the technical elements behind composition, shooting long-exposure and mastering flash photography. At home both in the studio and in the field, I shoot a wide-variety of subjects including landscape, portraiture, still life, street photography (and my cat, Lucio!). I enjoy sharing my knowledge with others through 1-1 teaching and through workshops and classes. I have written a handful of ebooks and taught for over 1000 hours in live workshops and online courses. My photographs have been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions since 2007, including the 2010 edition of the International Festival of Photography: “Fotografia Europea 2010” where I’ve been lecturing since 2011. I am a Profoto ambassador and the Profoto Premium Club trainer in Italy.

Fotografia Professionale
FotografiaProfessionale was created in 2009 by a group of friends, passionate about photography and partners in a communications agency.
While we don’t believe in coincidences, it was perfect – the group started with a photographer, a post-production expert, a marketing consultant and a social media professional.
We wanted to share our experiences and our techniques with photographers and post-production professionals, creating a network and community allowing everyone to grow their own knowledge and building a unique culture of top-notch photography and world-class post-production.
Since then the team has grown and now includes other photographers and editors, an art director, and community managers and customer care agents taking care of our customers, our community, logistics as well as our technical and commercial partners.
FotografiaProfessionale is now a community of over 136,000 photographers and enthusiasts.
FOTOGRAFIA PROFESSIONALE'S TEAM
A team of photographers and photo editing expertsTaking a good picture in a distant and exotic place is pretty easy.
The real challenge is mastering the technique of composition and planning a photo shoot so well that even the most common of locations will allow you to shoot a masterpiece.
Nearby and well-known places can also give you extraordinary shots that can surprise both you and your audiences.
Are you ready to learn how to take stunning landscape pictures like those you see in photography magazines?
Photographic composition, techniques, a detailed shooting plan and an optimized editing workflow will allow you to unleash your creativity and create stirring landscape pictures.
What do you think?
Are you ready to take advantage of all the tricks, shortcuts and best practices you’ll learn based on my experience both in-the-field and from photo editing and teaching?
Would you like to forget those moments when you were looking at a gorgeous landscape but felt your gear was limited and prevented you from really capturing that moment forever, portraying it in all its amazing beauty?
Start to get the best out of your gear and learn the techniques to capture every scene in the best possible way. Learn how you can use editing to make it look even better once you return home!
Thanks to the experience of FotografiaProfessionale in Italy, I created a fully immersive, comprehensive and packed 4-day workshop that will give you a tremendous grasp of landscape photography in a short amount of time. During this time you’ll acquire all the knowledge and skills you’ll need to take your pictures to the next level and beyond.
Let me introduce you to a great opportunity
We’ll spend 4 fantastic days together focused entirely on landscape photography:
We will learn how to face any situation and make the most of it, including those most challenging.
You’ll have to learn to carefully plan a shot.
You’ll be getting up early and you will get back late at night
You’ll search for challenging, eccentric and unusual spots and get to know how to take the most evocative images – using technique and a pinch of stubbornness.
The workshop brings together my experience in landscape photography and post-production techniques distilled into a packed 4-day workshop.
You’ll find all the secrets, the tricks and the knowledge I wish I would have had when I started pursuing my passion for long exposure and landscape photography.
Four enjoyable and action-packed days will give you what you need to make sure you always bring home a landscape picture worth publishing.
We will start with a careful analysis of the details to consider when planning a shot, then move on to discuss the gear you might need, focusing on what is really useful and important. We will discuss lenses you must have and how to use them, how to use filters, which ones are must-haves and how to produce stunning results when you don’t have them – or don’t have the right ones.
In this workshop, you’ll face all the challenges in the field with 7 photo shooting sessions in the scenic surroundings of the beautiful San Francisco and the Bay Area. You’ll learn how to work with landscape photography in an effective, creative (and fun!) way.
In addition to the in-the-field shootings, we’ll spend time editing pictures with the best tools on the market: Adobe Lightroom, Capture One and Adobe Photoshop. You’ll learn to make your images even more amazing and bypass some of the shortcomings of photo gear, while understanding what your individual style is for post-production editing.
For each case, will will analyze critical points together, encounter unexpected situations and experience common difficulties to focus on shooting opportunities with the clear purpose of getting the most out of the environment and the weather that we will have available to us.
This workshop is the cumulation of my experience as a photographer, as a “tech guy” and as a photography teacher, condensed into an experience that will let you enjoy landscape photography with a fresh and more aware sense of enjoyment and fulfillment.
The workshop covers a vast amount of knowledge and skills if you are a novice. If you are already a seasoned landscape photographer, it will give you an opportunity to grow further and challenge yourself with other fellow photographers. For sure, it will give us a great opportunity to create beautiful images together that will last in our memories.
This will all take place in the span of 4 intensive, full and productive days! We’ll have a lot to do together to get great results and share a vast amount of knowledge, experience, techniques, hints and best-practices.
But there’s more! Creating stunning images is not everything. Showcasing your work is very important too. Sharing, getting critique, and having people know about and appreciate your work is an amazing experience… this is why…
You’ll have the opportunity to have your work shown in an exhibition.
We will print, mount, and exhibit your work the weekend after the workshop.
The feeling of seeing your own work credited, printed and hung on the wall is unsurpassed… and I’m sure you’re going to enjoy that special feeling.
We are creating a one-night pop-up event in San Francisco for those interested in showcasing their work side-by-side other fellow workshop participants.
If you’re interested, great, we’ve created a unique opportunity for you to do this!

California Landscape Photography Workshop will be the first workshop of this kind in the US for me. Here are some reviews from previous workshop participants in Italy:
It was a really intense experience, filled with information. I believe that by applying the techniques learned and using them frequently and consistently, everyone can obtain the best out of their images, even the ones not appearing to be that “special” at first sight. I am so happy I attended this course and I hope I can attend others in the future.
Eva Meneghelli, former workshop attendeeI really enjoyed the people I met and the quality of the topics that I was not very familiar with. On top of that, I really enjoyed experiencing learning them in the field.
Attilio Epifani, former workshop attendeeGreat topics. I was satisfied by the great mix of theory and applied techniques. I really appreciated the small number of people in the workshop.
Riccardo Santucci, former workshop attendeeThese days really paid back in every possible aspect. Technically it was the course I was looking for. It opened new ways of seeing how to frame a shot and, after that, how to deal with the editing phase, enhancing every aspect of the image. The class was really enjoyable thanks to the group of attendees, your humor and your professionalism. What else can I say? When will you organize the next one?
Luigi Bartolini, former workshop attendeeI’m now more confident with both the use of photo filters and Adobe Lightroom!
Giancarlo Di Vittorio, former workshop attendeeI’ve been looking for a really effective workshop on photographic composition and finally I found one! … Exciting, interesting, stimulating and… professional. In addition to making new friendships with a lot of fantastic people (both from a personal and photographic passion point of view), I found excellent image experts. They are Italians, they are digital photographers, they all love Apple Macintosh and their name is “Simone”. They use both Canon and Nikon, but you know, you cannot always be perfect!
Valerio Vannucci, former workshop attendeeImpressive nice and very knowledgable trainers. Great work and a more than satisfactory experience for me. See you in the next workshop!
Giampietro Carli, former workshop attendeeWhen and Where?
